Revisiting my first project
Recently I've been organizing the projects I've worked on since I started to venture out as a game designer. One of my main goals with this is to organize them for myself and make most of them playable online - so anyone can have those experiences and also make them available as long as the world wide web of computers exists.
My Debut
That said, this is the first result, the game SUA:VIDA is now playable online!
SUA:VIDA was the first major project I worked on as a game designer, and I remember it was a fascinating experience developing this game over a semester. I discovered many things doing it, and at the same time, the feeling of seeing your first big idea gradually taking shape was highly comforting. That's why I hold this project with great affection in my heart.
Revisiting an Old Friend
Now, eight years later, I decided to bring it back to the surface (aka the internet) to be publicly available for all the ones who want to try it. The process to adapt the game to an online version was much more complicated than I had initially anticipated, I must admit. This is mainly due to a lot of amateurish mistakes I made when I initially developed it. Clearly, I was not prepared for the size and ambition of this project at the time.
But it was genuinely satisfying to analyze how my development process was eight years ago and how I improved a lot compared to now.
Maybe a Second Time
In fact, all this experience left me with a huge desire to make a remake of this project. I remember well how much work it was at the time, and I may never be able to find the appropriate time for it, but I would love to redo it with the new tools, techniques and knowledge I have now. Seeing my first project with a different engine, new effects, high-resolution art, and multiple languages would be fantastic! I definitely want to make that!
