Last assault

Over the past few weeks, our team has focused on the final details needed to finish our game.

Listen carefully

After reviewing our last playtest report, we were able to identify the most significant issues we had with our game. This was especially important for our team because it helped us see how some mechanics, which were already in the game, weren't working well.

As the deadline for our project is approaching, we thought it would be much better to focus on finishing what we already had, making everything work 100% in the last build. We looked at what was still on our to-do list and cut everything that was optional for our core game experience, focusing on finishing what we already have.

Sounds good with sounds

In the last few weeks, we have also been working on implementing sounds and music in our game.

We used Fmod as an audio middleware to facilitate the implementation of our samples in Unity, which was an excellent choice as it makes it amazingly easy to modify samples on the go. Avoiding the necessity to go back to our main DAW, adjust the file, re-export, etc., whenever an audio file needs slight modifications.

Even with the sounds of our game still needing to go through the mixing and mastering stages, being able to play our latest build with background music and sound feedback proved to be a completely new experience.

It's always nice to see this transition from a silent game to one with sounds and audio. It always reminds us how vital sound design is to the game experience and how much it is responsible for affecting the players' feelings.

Last raid

Our team will dedicate itself to doing another playtest round with our latest build in the next few days. To make sure that the changes we made had the effects we expected.

We're in the final stretch of our project, with just a few polishing left to do. Soon our project will be concluded, and I hope our game will please you all!
